payment gateway integration Saudi Arabia

Payments that clear, reconcile and refund without a spreadsheet

Taking money online in Saudi Arabia means more than a card form. You need mada, Apple Pay, split-payment options, clean refunds and a finance team that can match every payout to an order. We build and test all of it.

The direct answer

Payment gateway integration connects your website, store or app to a licensed payment provider so customers can pay by mada, card, Apple Pay or buy-now-pay-later. It covers the checkout, server-side confirmation, refunds, failed-payment handling and reconciliation with your accounts. It fits any Saudi business taking online payments, from a new store to an established platform.

Before and after

What this removes.

Customers drop off at payment

Today

The checkout lacks mada or Apple Pay, or sends shoppers through a slow redirect that fails on some phones.

With the system

The payment step offers the methods Saudi shoppers expect, in a mobile-first flow tested on real devices.

Paid orders that look unpaid

Today

A customer pays, the browser closes, and your system never learns it. Support spends hours checking by hand.

With the system

Server-side webhooks confirm every payment independent of the browser, so order status always matches the bank.

Refunds and payouts do not match

Today

Finance cannot tie settlement amounts to orders because fees, refunds and chargebacks are lumped together.

With the system

Each payout is broken down per order with fees and refunds, exported in a format your accountant can use.

Provider onboarding drags on

Today

You applied for a merchant account, waited, and nobody told you which documents were missing.

With the system

We help you choose a provider, prepare the application pack and build against the sandbox while approval runs.

In depth

How it works, and what to decide.

The payment methods Saudi shoppers expect

mada is the national debit network, and in practice a Saudi checkout without it loses sales. Cards from international networks come next, protected by 3-D Secure authentication. Apple Pay is widely used on iPhones and cuts checkout to a touch. Buy-now-pay-later providers like Tamara and Tabby let shoppers split larger baskets, and for fashion, electronics and home goods they often raise average order value.

Each method has its own rules. Some providers bundle mada, cards and Apple Pay behind one integration; BNPL providers typically have a separate API and their own approval process. Settlement times and fees vary by method, and some methods support recurring payments while others do not. We lay these differences out in a one-page comparison so you choose with the numbers in front of you.

We also look at where each method appears in the journey. BNPL messaging belongs on the product page and in the cart, not only at the final step. Apple Pay works best as an express option high in the checkout. Small placement choices move conversion more than most visual changes.

Doing it correctly: confirmation, refunds, reconciliation

The browser is not a reliable witness. Customers close tabs, networks drop, and redirects fail. So every integration we build treats the provider's server-to-server webhook as the source of truth. We verify the webhook signature, process it exactly once using idempotency keys, and retry safely when your system is briefly down.

Card data should never touch your servers. We use the provider's hosted fields or hosted payment page, which keeps your exposure to card-data security requirements small. We follow OWASP guidance for the surrounding code: input validation, secret storage, rate limits and audit logs on every payment action.

Then comes the unglamorous part that finance cares about. Refunds, partial refunds, cancelled authorizations, chargebacks and settlement batches are all modelled. We produce a reconciliation report that matches each payout to its orders, separates provider fees, and flags anything that does not add up. That report is what lets your accountant close the month without chasing screenshots.

Regulation, approvals and ZATCA

Online payments in the Kingdom run through providers operating under the oversight of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). We do not hold funds or process cards ourselves. We integrate licensed providers into your product, and your merchant agreement is with them. Always confirm a provider's licensing status with the provider and with SAMA's published information before you sign.

Onboarding takes time, usually a few weeks, and it needs documents such as your commercial registration, bank details and a working website with clear refund and delivery terms. We prepare the technical parts of the application and build against the sandbox in parallel, so integration is finished when approval lands.

Payments also feed tax records. For VAT-registered merchants, a successful payment should trigger an invoice in the structure ZATCA e-invoicing requires, and a refund should produce a credit note. We connect the payment events to your invoicing solution or ERP, so the sales record, the bank record and the tax record agree. For store builds, see our Shopify and Salla and Zid services.

Buyer questions

Asked before signing.

How long does payment gateway integration take?

The build usually takes 2 to 6 weeks, but merchant onboarding with the provider often sets the real timeline. We start the application early and build against the sandbox in parallel, so you go live soon after approval.

What does it cost?

You pay us a fixed price for the integration, and you pay the provider its own fees: typically a per-transaction percentage and sometimes a monthly or setup charge. Fees differ by method and provider, so we compare them in the first stage with your volumes.

Which payment methods can you integrate?

mada, major international cards with 3-D Secure, Apple Pay, and BNPL providers such as Tamara and Tabby. Availability depends on the provider you choose and on your merchant approval, which we check with you before building.

Do card details pass through our servers?

No. We use the provider's hosted fields or payment page so card numbers go straight to the provider. That keeps your security burden low, and we add the usual protections around the rest of the payment code.

Can payments feed ZATCA invoices and our accounting system?

Yes. Successful payments can trigger invoices, and refunds can trigger credit notes, in your invoicing solution or ERP. The exact setup depends on your ZATCA integration wave and accounting tools, which we confirm during scoping.

What support do you provide after launch?

We monitor payment success rates and webhooks, fix faults, and update the integration when a provider changes its API. You get a monthly report by payment method so you can see where customers succeed or drop.
